Kitchen Design - It's all in the detail!

July 2016

Smart details take great kitchen design to the next level.

A beautiful, functional kitchen island or state of the art kitchen appliances are only the start when it comes to creating a beautiful kitchen. Sometimes, it’s the tiny details that transform it.

Here are some of our favourite details from burlanes modern kitchen designs, country kitchen designs and freestanding kitchen designs

1.Bespoke custom built drawers.

Drawers with perfectly sized spaces for everything from teaspoons to whisks make finding utensils and all your kitchen kit easy and handmade in our Kent workshop using a selection of solid wood finishes. Deep drawers aren’t always used to their full capacity so we use two-layer drawers. A slide-across top layer for cutlery and smaller cooking utensils – makes sure no inch goes unused.

3. Integrate your bin

Ditch your freestanding rubbish bin which takes up space and can look untidy or grubby and replace with integrated waste storage in your kitchen scheme.

4. Creating space for appliances

Modern kitchens often include an appliance cupboard that contains useful daily kitchen kit, such as a coffee machine and toaster, plugged in and ready to use. This means you can store bulky appliances off the worktop, but don’t have to scrabble around in a cupboard and plug them in each time you want to use them.

5. Hang statement pendants

Kitchens require a good amount of practical task lighting for food prep, but many contemporary kitchens also include some statement lighting. Try pendant lights or industrial-style exposed bulbs over a table or island to add a welcome detail, while also boosting overall light levels.

And finally why not paint a cupboard door with chalk paint.  Perfect for a little reminder or 'to do' list!
