A Kent oast house renovation: utility room / laundry
Tucked away in the Kent countryside, this beautiful oast house has recently undergone an entire refurbishment, turning the property into a wonderful family home flooded with natural light and lots of character.
With a busy working lifestyle and two small children to consider, Burlanes worked closely with the home owners to transform a number of rooms in their home, to not only suit the needs of family life, but to give the wonderful building a new lease of life, whilst in keeping with the stunning historical features and characteristics of the incredible oast house.

Having a place for everything, and everything in its place, is the perfect mantra for an organised family household, and a utility room / laundry is a great addition to this. With floor-to-ceiling storage cupboards, handmade and beautifully hand painted in Myland's 'Morning Blue', this utility room is calm, serene and so refreshing. With a simple run of our Wellsdown cupboards under the window, and a stunning double Belfast sink, the room provides ample storage for washing tablets, cleaning products and appliances, as well as the perfect space for rinsing down those muddy wellies!
Large, easily accessible laundry baskets make doing the washing a doddle, and having an open washing machine and tumble dryer means quick and easy access! A Sheila maid is a great way for drying your washing when the temperamental British weather doesn't allow you to hang it out on the line! A Burlanes Sheila maid really is a beautiful piece of furniture, handmade to your exact sizes and dimensions, and hand painted in your colour choice.
Simple shelves, hooks and wicker baskets are a lovely way of adding character to a laundry room, providing storage for small items at easy reach. The home owners opted for Ca'Pietra 'Orla' encaustic tiles in here too, in keeping with the rest of the home.
As well as the utility room / laundry, Burlanes also renovated the family kitchen , living room, bathrooms and boot room.
