Traditional Meets Contemporary In The Decolane Kitchen In Essex

Located in the most beautiful serene great British countryside in Essex, we can understand why Mr & Mrs Green fell so in love with this beautiful property, and saw the potential it had to be such a wonderful family home. The homeowners began an extensive renovation process just a couple of years ago, and the results really are outstanding. Burlanes were commissioned to design, handmake and install a bespoke family kitchen, and our Chelmsford design team worked alongside interior designer Fiona Duke.

Originally the main living room of the property with a large staircase to the second floor of the building, the room has undergone an entire transformation to create an open-plan family kitchen and breakfast room.

The Island

Providing the majority of the worktop space for the kitchen, it was essential that the island was large enough to accommodate enough worktop space for food preparation, as well as a sink and a draining area too. A little over two and a half metres in length, it does just that, as well as providing space for the integrated rubbish and recycling bins, and the dishwasher too.

Colour & Hardware

Handpainted in Borough Market by Mylands, a wonderfully dramatic dark green named after the market’s iconic iron building, with beautiful contrasting Silestone Calacatta Gold worktops and burnished brass handles, the kitchen has a unique look and feel. Painting the walls the same iconic colour creates such a wow factor to the space.

Storage Solutions

Storage space was a must when designing this kitchen, so our design team allowed for a number of tall cabinets and well placed deep drawers, for specific appliances, crockery and cutlery. A beautiful glass fronted dresser provides lots of storage for glassware too.

The refrigerator and freezer are integrated within a large larder cupboard, and each drawer is designed for specific cutlery, handmade using tulipwood and oak, with beautiful dovetail joins.

Walk-in Pantry

Tucked away to the rear of the kitchen is the most incredible walk-in pantry, with bespoke shelving and a large wine cooler.

With stunning, classic Butt & Bead shaker wall panelling, and fully adjustable shelves, is this not just the most beautiful pantry you have ever seen?!

Taps & Appliances

In keeping with the classic, luxurious style of the kitchen, the Perrin & Rowe taps in aged brass finish were the perfect finishing touch. As well as the classic mixer, the homeowners also opted for the Perrin & Rowe hot tap, eliminating the need for a kettle.

A keen cook, Mrs Green wanted an oven and hob that would stand the test of time; the Gaggenau EB 333 is predominantly handmade, and promises unrivalled quality and craftsmanship.
